Astigmatism amplifies halation — bright text on dark backgrounds creates a starburst blur. The safest themes use medium-dark (not ultra-black) backgrounds, muted (not white) text, and 7–11:1 contrast rather than extreme 13+:1.

Key insight —the OLED variant's near-black bg is excellent for power and general comfort, but the worst for astigmatism. If that's you, use Eye Comfort 2.0 or Matcha Focus even on OLED.

07 Circadian / time-of-day fit

Post-sunset melatonin suppression is driven mostly by blue-channel stimulation (ipRGC peak ~480 nm) and brightness. Green and amber accents barely touch that range, so the warm variants are the safest after dark.
